Symmmetry

Rachel is very keen on symmetry lately--her drawings and decorations are remarkably ordered. Even when they're on her face!

He's usually a pretty good sport, but I see a lot of running-to-catch-up in Nathan's future. Rachel and Emilio have been making good use of their bikes, adding siren noises, putting out fires, rescuing people and driving them to the hospital. They are our neighborhood four-wheeled superheroes.

Not a terrific photo of this, but it's exciting news worth sharing. Nathan is in a big boy bed tonight! Well, he is on a mattress on the floor. Both he and Rachel pre-empted any ideas I might have had about a gentle transition from crib to bed. She climbed out of her crib during naptime right at her second birthday and cried, "I'm did it!" He climbed out of his crib right after I put him in it last night. He made it to the top, apparently, and then the weight of his head pulled him over (much like his rolling over at two weeks!) and--crash!--he landed right on his noggin. Poor baby probably wouldn't have tried climbing out again any time soon, but to be on the safe side, he was promoted to what he is proudly calling his big boy bed this afternoon. Pretty thrilling! And it will now be easier to kiss him when I go check on him at night--those crib rails really have cramped my style!
