New photos!
At long last, we've taught Rachel to post at her photo site. (That's why it's been so long since the last update.) Check them out!

Science Lessons
Rachel's science training continues with this week's lesson on chemical changes. She pointed to the blobs of cookie dough on the cookie sheets and said "doh" (with about the same emphasis as Homer Simpson)...

then pointed to the finished cookies and proclaimed them "cul-kee-cul-kee-cul-kee."

She also seemed to enjoy watching through the oven door as they changed from doh to culkeeculkeeculkee. She loves to help in the kitchen--watching everything, stirring in bowls, getting out pans. Could we have a baker or a chef in the making?

What a difference a year makes
After visiting with Emma and Libby yesterday, I was wondering what Rachel was like at Emma's age (4 weeks) and got to looking back at some photos. What a darling little ball of chubs she was! Here's a snippet of Rachel one year ago, at age 3 months. (Notice who made all the noise in the videos back then...)
It's a little different these days! While we sure loved our bundle of chub, it's awfully fun to get a smile without quite so much song-and-dance!

New Year!
2008 is off to a great start for Rachel. We had a terrific snowfall overnight on New Year's Eve, so our first wakeup of the year brought a beautiful winter snowscape. After we played a bit in the snow (and ate some!) we went driving with Grand-Merr and Grandpa to see the sights on the snowy north shore. Lovely.
We have a porch! This bodes well for getting our citation lifted so we can move. Hooray!
Here's Rachel's favorite spot in the house--she's the only one who ever goes there:
