Funday Friday

Both Rachel's and Nathan's schools have some crazy stuff going on today.  Nathan's school has crazy clothes day, so he's wearing (all backwards) plaid pants, plaid shirt, mismatched socks, and a striped tie.  He's looking pretty goofy!

Rachel's school has crazy hair day, so her hair is in five braids with pipe cleaners to make them twisty.  We have a couple of silly kids!

Farmers Market

We had a farmers market in our living room this morning--the first of the year.  Farmers Market employees are held to a strict dress code.  Quite a getup, don't you think?

Smiles and style

We took the kids to visit a new museum in Dallas recently, and--wonder of wonders!--we got smiling photos of both of them!  They liked this construction part quite a bit, particularly where they got to send blocks up a kid-powered conveyor belt.

Later, they were quite keen on a building exhibit.  Nathan and I made a pretty cool marble track.  Grandmerr was impressed, as you can see.
And look how strong our truss is--even super-strong Rachel can't bend it!
And what day is complete without a chance to sit on a giant frog?
Rachel adores her new foulard (scarf), a gift from Grandmerr's friend Carol who is living in France.  Apparently all the little girls in France are wearing them these days.  Rachel is very cutting-edge.  Actually, she is developing quite an impressive fashion sense (which she does not get from her mother!).  She has come up with a lot of creative ways to wear the scarf, and she always looks tres chic, dahling.  (If you scroll back up, you can see that it even looks quite impressive with the orange safety vest!)

What a difference a month makes!

This was our backyard in early March.
And this was our backyard last weekend!  Still not very green, but brown is progress from white in my book.  We waited a long time for winter to bring us snow this year, and now we're waiting a long time for spring to bring us green.  But it's coming, and we're very excited.  We've been among the last people on the school playground nearly every day this week, we've got chalk drawings all up and down our block, and we've even had the bikes and trike out for several spins.  It is good to be out in the sunshine!
